Visakhapatnam: The Akhil Bharatiya Basha Sahitya Sammelan (ABBSS), Bhopal, conducted its 33rd national conference and awards ceremony at DK Govt College for Women in Nellore.
ABBSS national president Dr Veerendra Singh and national general secretary Kriti Chaturvedi from Bhopal attended the event and spoke about the objectives of the organisation during the event.
Prof S Vijaya Bhaskar Rao, vice chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University, addressed the gathering as the chief guest. He spoke about the importance of language promotion associations and cultural organisations at a time when many languages are facing extinction.
Dr D Giri, principal of DKW College, highlighted the need to encourage poets and authors to continue their work. ABBSS AP president Dr Perugu Ramakrishna stressed the significance of love and affection for languages.
Poets and authors from five states received SamanvayaSree, SahityaSree, Samskiti Bhushan, Bharat Bhasha Bhushan, Saraswati Samman, and Rashtra Bhasha Gowrava Sammaan awards.
Dr N Elizbeth Jayakumari of Presidency College in Chennai, Odiya poet Dr Susree Sangeet Mishra, Karnataka English Poet Laxman Rao, Hindi poet A Ramalingeswara Rao from SHAR, Sriharikota, Narayana IAS Academy principal Dr K Saroja Devi, and other eminent poets from Andhra and Telangana were honoured with various awards. General secretary Dr Tekumlla Venkatappaiah also spoke on this occasion.
