Tata Harrier.ev Testing Begins – All Key Details We Know So Far!

Having initially witnessed the Tata Harrier.ev in its concept form earlier this year at the Auto Expo, we are now getting a closer look as the model enters its initial testing phase. Recent spy images have unveiled some intriguing details about this electric SUV, suggesting that it will stay faithful to its concept design.

Design Details

The forthcoming electric SUV is expected to retain the concept’s distinctive features, including a closed-off grille with a horizontal slat design, LED headlamps with a split setup, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) connected via a full-width LED light strip. A notable addition is the placement of a front camera just below Tata’s iconic logo.

Following in the footsteps of the concept, the production-ready version may sport EV badges on the fenders, along with larger alloy wheels, flush door handles, a more angular rear bumper with body cladding, and fresh taillamps featuring a new LED light bar spanning the width of the tailgate. Interior & Features

New spy images provide a glimpse of the Harrier.ev’s interior, revealing a substantial free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and the presence of an electronic parking brake. It’s quite likely that the electric Harrier will adopt Tata’s new twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, as well as touch-based HVAC controls, akin to what we’ve seen in the updated Nexon model lineup. The feature list is set to include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS tech), a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and ventilated and powered front seats.

Powertrain Specs

While specific technical specifications are yet to be officially disclosed, it’s anticipated that the Tata Harrier.ev will offer a substantial electric range, potentially in the range of 400-500 kilometers, with a battery capacity falling between 50kWh and 60kWh. Interestingly, the electric version of the Harrier may come equipped with all-wheel drive capabilities (absent in its ICE counterpart) thanks to a dual-motor setup. The electric Harrier is built upon Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform, also known as the Sigma architecture, which will also serve as the foundation for the upcoming Tata Punch EV, expected to debut during this festive season.

Launch Timeline & Rivals

Regarding its launch timeline, we can expect the production-ready Tata Harrier.ev to hit the market in 2025. Upon release, it will enter a competitive segment, challenging contenders like the Mahindra XUV.e8 (the electric XUV700), the Hyundai Creta EV, and the Maruti eVX.
