Hyderabad: Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Telangana on Saturday demanded the State government to fill up vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in the universities besides resolving the pending issues.
SFI State president RL Murthy and secretary T Nagaraju who submitted a representation to Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy here on Saturday said there were more than 5,000 teaching and non-teaching posts, which were not filled for the last several years, leading to closure of some courses.

The SFI team urged the TGCHE not to implement the new national education policy in the State, stating that it was a risk that economically weaker sections would not get education. They also wanted the Council to hold another DOST counselling so that students do not miss an academic year.
Stating that private engineering colleges have been charging exorbitant fees for admissions under the management category, Murthy and Raju wanted the government to bring out a new special law and hold admissions online. They also wanted regulation of high fees being charged by private colleges and universities.
