Vijayawada: The sleuths of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) conducted inspections at several distilleries across the state, in response to multiple allegations of irregularities in the production and distribution of alcohol.
One of the key locations raided was SVR distilleries near Karakambadi in Renigunta mandal of Tirupati district. Simultaneously, teams inspected the Visakha and GSP distilleries located in Kashinkota mandal in Anakapalli district. In Prakasam district, officials targeted the Pearl distillery in Old Singarayakonda mandal, while another team conducted searches at the Centani Biotech liquor bottling unit in Kanchikacharla mandal in NTR district.
CID additional SP Hussain Peera led an extensive inspection at SPY agro industries in Nandyala, where over 30 officials were involved. Allegations of malpractices prompted these searches. Investigators scrutinised the production records and verified compliance with regulations.
Searches are also underway at Eagle distillery, located in the suburbs of Kadapa, where CID officials from Tirupati are examining records of alcohol production from the past year. A similar operation is underway at a distillery in Kuppam in Chittoor district.
