A police officer was injured as a stampede-like situation ensued during a pre-release event of Mahesh Babu-starrer Telugu film ‘Guntur Kaaram’. The event turned chaotic after a massive crowd flocked to the venue at Namburu Cross Road in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur on Tuesday.
A sub-inspector of Old Guntur Police Station, Ventaka Rao, fractured his leg during the stampede as he attempted to control the crowd, police said.
The mob flocked to the event and created a ruckus, prompting Guntur police officials to resort to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
The crowd was seen pushing the police barricades and thrashing each other with chairs. As police tried to control the mob, clashes erupted with the locals.
‘Guntur Kaaram’ is a Telugu film featuring Mahesh Babu and has been directed by Trivikram Srinivas. It is set to release on January 12.
