BJP leader Amit Malviya calls Hyderabad’s month-long ban on public meetings ‘anti-Hindu’ – Telangana News

Calling it an “Aurangzeb kind of move”, BJP leader Amit Malviya condemned Telangana government’s month-long ban on gatherings and processions in Hyderabad.

Malviya said the Congress-led government was prohibiting Hindus from celebrating their festivals.

Along with sharing the copy of Telangana government’s order on X, Malviya wrote: “On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras too, the Congress administration in Hyderabad stopped Hindus from celebrating the festival, without giving any valid reason.”

He said that under the Congress-led government “Hindus have repeatedly been denied the right of worship in Telangana.”

“Earlier in April, Hyderabad Police denied permission to BJP MLA T Raja Singh to undertake the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra in the city. The anti-Hindu Congress, which has been brazen in its condemnation of Sanatana Dharma, by openly supporting their ally DMK’s call for eradication of Sanatan, is now actively preventing the Hindus from celebrating their festivals.”

Effective from October 27, the Hyderabad police had issued a ban on processions, dharnas, rallies, and public meetings within the Hyderabad and Secunderabad city limits.

The month-long restriction, which would be in effect till 6 pm on November 28, 2024, was aimed at maintaining peace and order in the city. According to the order, the prohibition action was taken in response to intelligence reports of potential disturbances. The order also prohibited the display of images, placards, flags, and the electronic sharing of messages that could incite public unrest.

The order restricted gatherings but allowed peaceful protests at the designated Indira Park Dharna Chowk. Protests or gatherings near sensitive areas, like the Secretariat, were strictly prohibited, with violators facing prosecution under applicable laws.

Police enforced these restrictions to ensure public safety and prevent disruptions in the city, especially during the festival season.
