Hyderabad: Food Secretary, Government of India, Sanjeev Chopra on Friday made a surprise visit to fair price shop no -819 at AG colony in the city and reviewed its functioning.
It is one of 60 fair price shops upgraded into ‘Jan Poshan Kerndras’ across the states of Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, under a newly launched pilot project.
It enables the fair price shops to sell additional items along with the subsidised grains to address the income challenges being faced by ration dealers.
After a thorough review of its functioning and quality of services being extended by it, he wanted the fair price shop dealer to scale up the sales to boost his income up to Rs 1 lakh a month.
Presently he could make up to Rs 30,000 a month. Later in the day, Sanjeev Chopra also visited the Minister for Civil Supplies, N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Commissioner, Civil Supplies Corporation, D S Chouhan.
