Vijayawada: As part of its efforts to strengthen power transmission infrastructure in the state, the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (AP Transco) has completed construction of five sub-station and gearing up to take up another 14 sub-stations at a cost of Rs.5,407 crore.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the 400/220 kv sub-station at Tallayapalem in Amaravati on Thursday. He will inaugurate another four sub-stations and lay foundation stone for 14 sub-stations in virtual mode from Tallayapalem.
The sub-station at Tallayapalem is also taken up to meet the power supply demand in and around capital city Amaravati in the coming days.
Special chief secretary (energy) K Vijayanand visited the venue of the chief minister’s programme at 400/220 kV Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) Thallayapalem and gave necessary instructions to the officials of power utilities.
AP Genco MD KVN Chakradhar Babu, JMD, AP Transco, Keerthi Chekuri, CMDs of discoms, Pattansetti Ravi, I Prudhvi Tej, K Santosha Rao, grid director, A K V Bhaskar and other senior officials were present.
Vijayanand asked the officials to ensure all arrangements are fool-proof for making the inauguration and foundation programme a success. He also advised the officials to complete the projects as per time schedule.
“As part of strengthening the overall power network for 24×7 quality power, AP Trasnco is going to establish power transmission infrastructure with substations and connected power lines with a total cost of Rs. 5407 crore with different capacities of 132/33 KV, 220/132 kv, 400/220 kv, 400/132 kv in various locations covering the districts of NTR, Guntur, Chittoor, Nandyal, Sri Sathya Sai, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Krishna, Prakasam, Tirupati and Kadapa,” said Vijayanand.
He said that power utilities were committed to strengthen the power infrastructure and meet the rising electricity demand. He said that they would supply 24×7 quality and reliable power that play a key role to enhance economic development of state with improved consumer satisfaction.
“The demand for electricity is increasing significantly year on year. As a developing state, Andhra Pradesh will see a sizeable growth and urbanization in coming days which will drive up the demand for electricity manifold that require the strengthening network”, said the special chief secretary.
He said that the establishment of new sub-stations benefits in providing better quality power mainly to the rapidly growing industrial and aqua industry sectors in the respective region, quality power supply to agriculture, better quality electricity to the households and resolves low voltage problems in the mandals of the respective districts.
