The fourth-generation Maruti Dzire has become the first Maruti Suzuki model to achieve a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP. The new model was recently subjected to crash tests, scoring a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection with 31.24 points out of 34 and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection with 39.20 points out of 42.
It’s important to note that the tested model was Made-in-India, Made-for-India, and featured six airbags, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, electronic stability control, Isofix mounts for the rear outboard seats, and seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters. The new Maruti Dzire also meets UN 127 pedestrian protection standards.
The crash test results showed that the 2024 Maruti Dzire provided good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck, with the chest protection rated as marginal for the driver and adequate for the passenger. It offered good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s knees. The bodyshell was rated as stable and capable of withstanding further loadings, and the footwell area also remained stable. In the side impact test, the new Maruti Dzire showed good protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. In the side pole impact test, it provided good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis, while chest protection was rated as marginal. Its ESC performance met Global NCAP’s requirements.
In child occupant protection, the new Maruti Dzire prevented excessive forward movement of the 3-year-old child seat, which was installed forward-facing using the Isofix anchorages. While it offered full protection for the head and chest during the frontal impact, neck protection was rated as limited. The model also prevented head exposure for the 18-month-old child dummy, installed rearward-facing via Isofix anchorages. The CRS results showed full protection for both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old.
