VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) held its Apex Council meeting at the Mangalagiri International Cricket Stadium, chaired by ACA president and MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni).
The meeting focused on 16 key issues, emphasising the development of cricket infrastructure and talent across Andhra Pradesh.
ACA president Chinni highlighted plans to establish new cricket academies in Vijayawada, Anantapur, and Visakhapatnam to nurture sports talent, especially from rural areas.
“These academies will offer advanced training to young athletes, preparing them for competitive levels,” he stated.
The council also discussed improvements for the Mangalagiri Stadium, which faced structural issues due to years of neglect.
“The stadium, built 12 years ago, requires modern upgrades. If necessary, we will rebuild parts of it,” Shivnath noted. Enhancements, including improved parking and redesigned access roads, are in the pipeline to address long-standing concerns.
Further, the ACA plans to train players at international standards, targeting improvements in the Ranji Trophy and Under-19 teams.
Vice resident P. Venkata Rama Prashanth, Secretary Sana Satish, treasurer Dandamudi Srinivas, and councilor Dantugaur Vishnu Tej also attended the meeting, reinforcing ACA’s commitment to cricket development in the state.
