Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said if the opposition wanted to target him, they should do so on the political front but not create obstacles or block completion of projects and development in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.
“Migration from this district in search of livelihood has not stopped even 10 years after the formation of Telangana. This is because of the negligence of the previous BRS govt. Some people are making accusations and trying to do petty politics to block our efforts to implement irrigation and other projects in the district. If they have anything against me, target me on the political front but do not block the work on project implementation. People of this district will not forgive them, and their names will go down in history in a poor light,” Revanth said.
The CM also laid foundation for the construction of an elevated corridor on the ghat road of Kurumurthy Swamy temple at a cost of 110 crore and said devotees from Karnataka and Telangana visit the temple to pay their obeisance and offer prayers. Officials were told to prepare and report on the development of the temple and that the govt would release funds immediately after they get the report.
He was addressing a gathering after offering prayers at the famous Kurumurthy Swamy temple, revered as the ‘Tirupati of the poor’, in Ammapuram village of Chinna Chintakunta mandal in Mahabubnagar district, during the Brahmotsavam festivities.
“If you look at irrigation projects nationwide, you’ll find labourers from Palamuru (Mahabubnagar district) were involved in their construction. Yet, many local projects remain incomplete in this district due to the negligence of the previous BRS govt. The Congress govt will complete the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation project and any attempts to obstruct these initiatives will face public backlash,” he said.
“As a child of this district, history will not forgive me if I do not complete the irrigation projects, give water to agricultural fields, and provide employment. I became the chief minister with the blessings of Lord Kurumurthy Swamy. The people of the combined Mahabubnagar district have given 12 MLAs, two MPs, and a chief minister. No matter where I am, I always wish for the development of this district and pray for lush green agricultural fields to flourish here. BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was elected chief minister twice with strong support from this district, but the previous govt neglected its development,” he said.
Highlighting the Congress govt initiatives, he assured the people that once the lift irrigation project was completed, Krishna water would be supplied to Makthal, Nagarkurnool and Kodangal.
Revanth announced that Amara Raja Batteries has agreed to provide skill training and jobs to 2,000 unemployed locals in the district in its unit. “It’s our responsibility to create job opportunities for the youth of this backward district. The Congress govt will construct BT roads connecting every village and thandas to the mandal and district headquarters. District collectors should expedite these improvements in transport infrastructure,” he said.
“The Congress govt is committed to providing education, healthcare, and employment opportunities to the people of Palamuru (Mahabubnagar district), stressing that development must not be hindered by baseless conspiracies,” he added.
