Skoda and Volkswagen have initiated a recall campaign for select units of vehicles manufactured under the Skoda-Volkswagen India 2.0 strategy. The models affected include the Kushaq and Taigun SUVs, as well as the Slavia and Virtus sedans. Out of a total of 52 units, 14 are Skoda Kushaq and Slavia models, while 38 are Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus models.
According to a listing on SIAM’s voluntary recall website, the recall has been triggered by a production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end. The issue relates to faulty welding on the track control arm, which could potentially lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control and stability without any prior warning.
The recall affects models manufactured between 29th November 2023 and 20th January 2024. As of now, neither Skoda nor Volkswagen has released an official statement regarding the recall. However, it is expected that both brands will soon contact the affected owners for voluntary inspection and necessary updates. The rectification or replacement of faulty components will likely be carried out at no additional cost to customers.
Upcoming Updates: Skoda Kushaq Facelift
In other news, the Skoda Kushaq is set to receive its first mid-life facelift, bringing a few noticeable design changes and feature upgrades. While detailed information is yet to emerge, the updated Kushaq is expected to feature connected LED headlamps and taillamps, a slightly revised front grille, reworked front and rear bumpers, and a new set of alloy wheels. The midsize SUV might also introduce new color options.
Inside, the facelifted Kushaq could come with updated trim and upholstery. The most significant upgrade, however, will be the addition of an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite, enhancing the vehicle’s safety and driving assistance capabilities.
Mechanical Specifications
Mechanically, the Kushaq facelift will remain unchanged. It will continue to be offered with the 1.0L TSI petrol and 1.5L TSI petrol engines. These engines deliver 115bhp with 178Nm and 150bhp with 250Nm, respectively.
A 6-speed manual gearbox will remain standard across the lineup. The 1.0L TSI variants will also have the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.5L TSI variants will come with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
