Warangal: The three-day Model United Nations, SRU-MUN’24 season-2 got underway at SR University in Warangal on Friday.
Over 650 students from various schools and colleges across the region would be engaged in diplomatic discussions and address critical global and national issues, said dean (student welfare), Dr. AVV Sudhakar, who inaugurated the event.
The event offers a platform for young minds to debate and deliberate on diverse issues under several key councils, such as United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Health Organisation (WHO) and a special Lok Sabha session.
The event was led by the Model UN secretary general, L Srivardhan Rao and deputy secretary general, Md. Fozaan Ali. The events planning and coordination was overseen by director general, Nasheer Fatima and IP head, A Shivani with support from faculty coordinators, Md. Sallauddin, L Gunakar Rao, N Mahender and D. Ramesh.
Students from Warangal Public School, St. Peter’s CBSE School, Greenwood High School, SR DG School, Shine High School, SR Prime School and Montessori High School along with a few intermediate-level students.
The event would conclude on November 17 with a closing ceremony to honour and award the outstanding delegates for their contributions during the conference, Dr. Sudhakar said. Associate dean (student welfare) Dr. K Deepa was present.
