HYDERABAD: A 19-year-old nursing student, Rathod Jitender, was murdered by unidentified persons in Adilabad. The suspects allegedly forced Jitender to consume alcohol and then stabbed him with the same bottle, leaving him severely injured two days ago. After battling for life for two days, the student succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Police said Jitender hailing from Narnoor in Adilabad, was studying BSc Applied Sciences, first year, at RIMS and staying at Govt ST hostel in Adilabad town.On Friday night, he met a friend outside the hostel campus. While he was returning to the hostel, four unidentified persons called him to accompany them. When he refused, they forcibly took him away from near the hostel and into an under-construction building opposite the hostel.
There, the suspects forcefully made him consume alcohol, broke a beer bottle, and stabbed him with it all over his body, leaving him severely injured. They abandoned him at the spot and fled. Jitender called a relative and informed him about the attack, following which they rushed to the spot and shifted him to hospital.
Initially, an attempt to murder case was registered at the Mavala police station, and it was altered to murder after his death. His family members suspect the role of their relatives with whom Jitender and other family members had a fight during a festival at their village a month ago.
Police said a previous enmity could be the motive behind the murder. “A thorough investigation is underway, and teams are on the job to nab the suspects,” said Mavala station house officer V Vishnuvardhan and K Phanidhar, circle inspector, Adilabad Rural, who are investigating the case.
