Hyderabad: To provide researchers with cutting-edge microscopy technologies, the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), and Nikon India on Monday launched India’s first such centre of excellence (CoE) at its campus.
As a hub for innovation, the centre will help researchers explore biological systems at various scales — from single cells to human tissues.
Centre coordinator Shourya Dutta Gupta said it will house an inverted microscope for fluorescence imaging, an inverted tissue culture microscope, and a Nikon SMZ 800 with a fluorescence attachment for macro imaging, among others.
“Leveraging its extensive resources, technical expertise and experienced staff, the centre will address critical challenges in cell biology and other research areas,” he added.
Officials from Nikon India said this CoE will not only advance scientific research but also help researchers push the boundaries across various scientific disciplines. “Our goal is to foster an innovative learning environment that encourages further developments and benefits the community at large,” Nikon India MD Sajjan Kumar.
IITH director BS Murty said this initiative aligned perfectly with the institute’s goal of fostering innovative research and diverse learning opportunities.
