Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy laid special focus on development of Greater Hyderabad as a future hub with 2050 master plan. The plans include the expansion of elevated expressways, metro rail corridors, roads and transport facilities to ease traffic congestion in the city.
“In the last one year since he assumed office as CM, Revanth, in tune with the increasing population and urban expansion, focused on the development of Greater Hyderabad as one of the best cities at the global level,” said a communication from CMO.
An elevated corridor will be constructed on Rajiv Rahadari near Alwal in Secunderabad at a cost of Rs 2,232 crore. The foundation stone for the construction of a double-decker elevated corridor on the Hyderabad-Nagpur national highway at a cost of Rs 1,580 crore was laid.
The CM focused special attention on the revival of Musi river. Proposals have been made to revive the twin reservoirs of Himayathsagar and Osmansagar, with 39 STPs being set up to treat the dirty water and release fresh treated water into the Musi.
Another 20 tmc of Godavari water from Yellampalli is planned to be brought for providing drinking water to Hyderabad and clean water flow to Musi. Bapu Ghat would be developed as a global Gandhi philosophy centre, CMO said.
A four-lane bridge is being constructed near Mir Alam tank at an estimated cost of Rs 360 crore. The cabinet approved the second phase of the metro rail project at a cost of Rs 24,237 crore. A new Osmania General Hospital will be constructed at Goshamahal and roads within GHMC limits will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8,996 crore.
The development of six junctions with Rs 826 crore aims to overcome traffic congestion around KBR Park. Jubilee Hills checkpost junction, KBR entrance junction, Road No. 45 junction, Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen, and cancer hospital junctions will be developed as part of this project.
The state govt is undertaking the construction of the regional ring road at a cost of Rs 18,000 crore. The govt is ready to set up a Future City in 30,000 acres near Hyderabad, CMO added.
