Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) member Kanchumurthi Eswar met Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Kumar Sahoo on Monday and submitted a memorandum to him seeking the introduction of a special train from Visakhapatnam to Ayodhya and back for the benefit of devotees visiting the temple of Lord Rama.
While thanking the railways for providing special trains to Kollam and extending the run of the existing train from Visakhapatnam to Kollam for the benefit of devotees visiting Sabarimala, he appealed to the DRM for provision of a special train from Visakhapatnam to Ayodhya for the benefit of devotees Ayodhya during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela to be held from January 13 to February 26, 2025
Mr. Eswar noted that these trains would also be useful to people of various States going to their native places for Christmas, New Year and Sankranti festival season. There is not even a single direct train from Visakhapatnam to Ayodhya and the special trains besides meeting the needs of passengers would also supplement the revenue earning of the railways.
The ZRUCC member said that he had also submitted a copy of the memorandum to the Senior DCM K. Saandeep. He had also sent copies to the GM and the CPTM of East Coast Railway (E Co R), Bhubaneswar. He said that the railways have responded positively to his demand.
