Hyundai and Kia, the sister brands, are all set to launch two new products in India next month. While Hyundai will introduce its first mass-market electric offering – the Creta EV, Kia will announce the prices of its all-new Syros subcompact SUV. Both models will make their first public appearance at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. The Hyundai Creta EV will face challenges from the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the forthcoming Maruti e-Vitara. The Kia Syros, which will sit between the Sonet and Seltos, will compete against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and other models in the sub-4-metre category.
Here’s a brief on the aforementioned upcoming Hyundai and Kia SUVs:
Kia Syros
Kia India has released multiple teasers of the upcoming Syros compact SUV, which is slated to debut on 19th December 2024. After its official unveiling, the model will be displayed at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025, followed by its price announcement. Deliveries, however, are likely to begin a few weeks later. The Kia Syros will be made available with two petrol and one diesel engine options. The petrol versions will include a 1.0L turbocharged engine and a 1.2L naturally aspirated unit, delivering 120bhp and 82bhp, respectively. The diesel Syros will borrow the Sonet’s 1.5L engine, which produces 114bhp and 250Nm. Compared to the Sonet, it will feature premium offerings, including a panoramic sunroof, ADAS technology, and more. Read more here…
Hyundai Creta EV
The electric Creta will make its global debut at the Auto Expo. Though we already have a handful of details about its design language, interior, and powertrain, spy images reveal that the Hyundai Creta EV will feature a dual-screen setup similar to its ICE version. In fact, its dashboard design and central console with a button panel are also carried forward from the standard Creta. What’s new inside the cabin is the circular three-spoke steering wheel and seat upholstery with ‘CRETA Electric’ embossing. Most of its features will be similar to its ICE counterpart, with a few EV-specific design changes also incorporated. Official details are set to be revealed next month. It’s reported to feature a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor, promising a range of around 350km or more. Read more here…
