Hyderabad: A habitual property offender, Syed Sahil, was arrested from Chaitanyapuri on Wednesday. Police seized three stolen bikes and his car, which he used while committing crimes, from his possession.
Sahil, a driver by profession, stole parked vehicles and was planning to dispose them to scrap dealers for easy money. He was earlier involved in 12 theft cases and was even remanded in judicial custody. He came out on bail a few weeks ago and started committing crimes again, police said.
Police said Sahil was addicted to alcohol, smoking, and a lavish lifestyle. To support his luxurious lifestyle, he started committing crimes and making money from the stolen property.
He was earlier involved in automobile thefts in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda polic commissionerate limits.
Sahil operated mostly during nights, looking for vehicles parked at isolated locations and stole them by breaking their locks. Based on technical leads and other clues, police caught him at Chaitanyapuri when he was moving under suspicious circumstances. He confessed to have committed five more crimes, an investigating official said.
