Vijayawada’s Praja Darbar: A Game Changer for Public Grievance Redressal | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: Praja Darbar, the brainchild of IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh, has received 5,810 grievances since it started on the third day of his taking charge as minister. Out of the total grievances, as many as 4,400 grievances have been resolved so far.
Lokesh conducts the Praja Darbar at his residence when he is available in the capital. Out of the last 180 days since the NDA alliance assumed power in the state, he held the Praja Darbar on 50 days, and has set up a system to forward all grievances to the departments concerned for resolution.
Most of the complaints received from people pertain to revenue and home departments. While land disputes and complaints of land grabbing and encroachments occupy top place in overall requests, people seeking help from false cases and threats faced from political opponents are next, followed by requests for jobs, support for education, developmental works in villages, especially for drinking water, waste management, medical expenses, and other grievances.
Praja Darbar has gained significant public attention as people seek solutions to their problems. Though the initiative was launched to address local issues in Mangalagiri, from where Lokesh represents the assembly, people from across the state have started attending them and seek redressal to their problems. With word of mouth spreading fast, the number of people attending Praja Darbar is constantly growing, said a close aide of Lokesh who is involved in segregating the complaints and sending them to the respective departments.
The minister also holds the Praja Darbar during his district tours. He is the most active minister on social media and also the interactive face of both the party and the govt in receiving various requests from people in distress and taking prompt action to address them. He assisted individuals trapped in Gulf countries under difficult circumstances. He facilitated the return of 21 individuals to the state by responding to the appeals made by the victims on social media platforms.
A special mechanism has been set up to ensure the swift resolution of grievances raised through social media and the Praja Darbar.
The minister directs these issues to relevant departments and monitors the progress. He also discusses unresolved matters with other ministers and presents them in cabinet meetings.
