Mahindra & Mahindra recently announced its ambitious plan to increase its monthly production capacity by approximately 49,000 units by the end of 2023. This strategic move is aimed at alleviating the extended waiting period for some of its highly sought-after SUVs, including the Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, XUV700, and Thar. Presently, the company maintains an overall production capacity of 39,000 units per month, but the approaching year-end promises a decline in the waiting period for several Mahindra SUVs.
Mahindra Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic Waiting Period
Looking at the Scorpio N, the Z8L petrol and diesel automatic variants now boast the lowest waiting period, with 2-3 months for petrol and 1-2 months for diesel. The Z4, Z6, and Z8 diesel automatic variants also come with a 2 to 3-month waiting period. However, all petrol and diesel variants equipped with electronic stability program (ESP) still have a notable waiting period of 9 months.
Buyers eyeing the Z4 petrol and diesel manual, Z6 diesel manual, Z8 petrol manual, and Z8L diesel manual variants will need to exercise patience, as the waiting period ranges from 6 to 8 months. Thankfully, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S and S11 variants are currently being promised with a more reasonable 4-month delivery period. Read: 3 Upcoming Mahindra SUVs With Diesel & Petrol Engines
Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period
The waiting period for the AX5 petrol and diesel variants has been successfully reduced to 3 months from the previous 6 months. The AX7 variants now have a more manageable 5-month waiting period. However, the AX7L petrol and diesel versions still command a waiting period of up to 6 months. For those interested in the entry-level MX and AX3 petrol and diesel variants, the waiting period extends up to 2 months.
Mahindra Thar Waiting Period
While Mahindra Thar’s 4X2 variants continue to experience a substantial waiting period of up to 15-16 months, there is a more favorable situation for the 4X2 petrol models, which now see an average waiting period of around 5 months. Customers eagerly anticipating the Thar 4X4 petrol and diesel variants will need to wait for 5-6 months before taking delivery.
