Hyderabad: Blaming the previous BRS govt for lack of amenities at residential schools and neglecting the health of students, ministers said the Congress govt was taking steps to improve conditions at residential schools. The ministers launched a common diet menu in various residential schools across the state.
Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the BRS regime was responsible for the deteriorating health of students as they did not increase diet and pay mess charges. Now, the BRS leaders were talking about the health condition of the students. The Deputy CM visited a residential school in Bonakal in the Madhira assembly constituency in Khammam. The Congress govt not only increased the diet charges and cosmetic charges but also paid pending bills. He said the govt allocated 5,000 crore for schools in the state budget. He warned that the govt would take action against those responsible, if there was any lapse in the residential schools.
BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the BRS govt had neglected the residential schools totally and the BRS leader, who reacts on X, did not visit residential school in 10 years of their rule. Prabhakar visited a residential school in Shaikpet. He said the govt had paid pending rents of schools and now decided to pay mess charges through the green channel.
Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the BRS govt ran the residential schools in poultry farms and dilapidated buildings. CM Revanth Reddy decided to set up integrated residential welfare schools. He said there was a delay in implementing some welfare schemes due to the borrowing of the previous govt and the Congress govt was paying interest on the loans.
Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the state govt has allocated 470 crore, which would benefit eight lakh students. “The govt common diet menu will benefit 3,943 crore,” the minister said. The minister visited a residential welfare girls’ school at Mahendra Hills.
