Hyderabad: The first edition of the highly anticipated HCL Cyclothon Hyderabad concluded today with over 1,500 cyclists, including 1,266 men and 224 women, taking part in the event. Riders pedaled along the scenic service road parallel to the Outer Ring Road, covering a picturesque 23-km route from Kokapet Junction to Kollur Junction.
Organized in collaboration with the Telangana Government and under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), the event saw active participation from prominent dignitaries. Key representatives from HCL Group, including Sundar Mahalingam, President – Strategy, HCL Group; Rajat Chandolia, Associate Vice President and Head of Brand Strategy, HCL Group; Pawan Vadapalli, Corporate Vice President and Global Head of Digital Business, HCLTech; Shiva Prasad, AVP, HCLTech; Nirmala Datla, Executive Vice President, HCLTech; and VN Singh, Director, CFI, graced the occasion.
The event featured a prize pool of ₹33.6 lakhs, the largest for a Cyclothon in India, awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the Professional and Amateur categories. The competition included a range of categories to cater to cyclists of all skill levels, including Professional Road Race (52 km), Amateur Road Race (52 km), Amateur MTB Road Race (23 km), Amateur Road Race (23 km), and the Green Ride (10 km).
Sundar Mahalingam, who also participated in the Amateur MTB Road Race (23 km) category, commented, “Cycling is a powerful way to unlock human potential and promote urban sustainability. The enthusiastic response to the HCL Cyclothon, across Hyderabad and in previous editions in Noida and Chennai, is truly inspiring. We are grateful to the corporates and participants who joined us in championing fitness and community spirit. HCL Cyclothon aims to provide a platform for professional cyclists to showcase their talent while encouraging the next generation to embrace cycling as a fitness sport.”
The event also saw active participation from local cycling groups, including Hyderabad Cycling Revolution and Hyderabad Cyclists Group.
