Warangal: A woman candidate with a newborn lost an opportunity to write the Group 2 exam on Sunday because of a mistake by the officials, and strict implementation of the time schedule in Jangaon district.
The officials did not check her hall ticket and the centre code and allowed her to enter the premises. It was only when they were handing over OMR sheets that officials discover that she was at the wrong centre.
The candidate herself did not check the centre code properly until she was told that she came to the wrong place. She rushed to her specified centre but was denied entry following the one-minute rule.
In several other instances, those who were even a minute late were disallowed entry in Warangal and Karimnagar districts. The exam started at 10 am on Sunday.
Five candidates were denied entry at the Christu Jyothi Engineering College in Jangaon district while in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, as also a candidate who reached Sri Chaitanya School two minutes late.
The appeals of three students, who were late by a few seconds at SR Junior College in Warangal were not considered. Two applicants reporting late at Sadhana High School centre abused officials when they were denied entry.
In Warangal district, out of 11,310 applicants, only 5,275 candidates appeared for the test while in Karimnagar district, out of 26,978 candidates, only 13,273 candidates appeared for the examination.
