The much-awaited Hyundai Creta EV is all set to launch in India on 17th January 2025, coinciding with the beginning of the Bharat Mobility Show. The electric SUV will also be put on public display at the event. It will be the first mass-market electric offering from the South Korean automaker and will compete with the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti e-Vitara. Multiple test mules of the Creta EV have revealed some interesting details. Let’s take a look at them.
Expected Range, Battery, and Power
Official details of the Creta EV will be revealed a month later. However, it’s reported to come with a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The e-motor will be capable of producing a maximum power of 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. This is the same powertrain that powers the new Hyundai Kona EV sold in global markets. The new Hyundai electric SUV is expected to promise a range of over 350km on a single charge.
EV-Specific Design Elements
The Hyundai Creta EV will be based on its ICE counterpart, which received a major midlife update earlier this year. However, a few design elements will differentiate both models. The electric iteration of the SUV will feature a newly designed closed-off grille at the front. The bumpers, both front and rear, will also be different from the ICE version. It will come with uniquely designed alloy wheels and feature EV-specific badges inside and out. Dimensions are likely to remain unchanged.
Refreshing Interior
The interior will also look refreshing, with a new three-spoke steering wheel replacing the flat-bottom unit of the ICE-powered Creta. While the dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument functionalities will be carried forward from the regular Creta, the infotainment unit might come with an improved user interface and additional features. The electric SUV will have a drive selector controller positioned near the steering column. The HVAC controls on the center panel will be similar to those in the new Alcazar SUV. Hyundai will also revise its center console, which will feature two cup holders and physical buttons for cooled seats, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and auto hold.
Price Expectations
Prices of the Hyundai Creta EV are expected to start from Rs 19 lakh and go up to Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom). The ICE-powered version of the SUV is currently available within the price range of Rs 11 lakh – Rs 20.30 lakh.
