Kia Syros, the all-new sub-4-metre SUV from the South Korean automaker, is finally here! The carmaker has unveiled the model and revealed all its variants, features, and key details. Booking for the new Kia compact SUV will begin from 3rd January, 2024, while its prices are expected to be announced at the Bharat Mobility Show in January, 2025. Its deliveries will start from early February. Once launched, the Syros will take on the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the upcoming Skoda Kylaq. Here’re all key details of the new Kia Syros compact SUV:

Variants & Colour Options

The Syros model comes in six trims – HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, HTX+ (O) – and eight monotone color options: Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Grey, Intense Red, Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, and Aurora Black Pearl.

Warranty & Optional Offerings

Kia is offering multiple interior color and seat options for the Syros, which vary by variant. Buyers can choose from three different alloy wheel sizes. With this new Kia compact SUV, you get three years warranty for unlimited kilometres and up to 5th year optional extended warranty along with the three years 24/7 roadside assistance. The major highlight of the Kia Syros is its interior, which boasts the most spacious, flexible, and feature-loaded cabin in the segment. In fact, its interior comfort levels rival those of some midsize SUVs. Kia has equipped its new compact SUV with several segment-first features, including the Kia Connect Diagnosis, OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, and second-row seat recline and slide with seat ventilation, along with the best-in-segment Trinity Panoramic display – a connected car navigation cockpit.

The Kia Syros also comes with a comprehensive safety package. The new compact SUV is equipped with front dual airbags, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a high-line tire pressure monitor, ABS with EBD, a brake force assist system, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist control, an emergency stop signal, child locks, front parking sensors, rear parking sensors, speed-sensing auto door locks, impact-sensing auto door unlock, front and rear all-seat three-point seat belts with reminders, Isofix rear anchors, a front passenger airbag on/off switch and indicator, and a rear occupant alert.

The ADAS Level 2 system with 16 autonomous features further enhances its safety quotient. The ADAS suite offers forward collision warning and avoidance assist, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keep assist, parking collision avoidance assist (reverse), and many more advanced safety features.

Engine & Gearbox Options

The Kia Syros is available with two engine options: a 1.0L T-GDi Smartstream petrol and a 1.5L CRDi VGT diesel. The petrol engine delivers a claimed power output of 88.3 kW at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The diesel engine produces 85 kW at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 2,750 rpm. It is available with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Both engines come with a 2WD drivetrain system.

Variant-Wise Engine Options

The petrol-manual combo is available with the HTX, HTK+, HTK (O), and HTK trims, while the petrol-DCT is offered with the HTX+ (O), HTX+, HTX, and HTK+ variants. The diesel-manual combination comes with three trims – HTX, HTK+, and HTK (O), while the diesel-automatic is reserved for the HTX+ (O) and HTX+ trims.

Dimensions, Boot Space & Design

The Kia Syros measures between 3,990 mm and 3,999 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height. It offers a boot space of 465 liters and a fuel tank capacity of 45 liters. Unlike other Kia cars, the Syros features a tallboy stance with Kia’s new design language. Some of its key design highlights include the signature digital Tiger Face grille, Ice-Cube MFR LED headlamps with Starmap LED DRLs, Starmap LED taillamps, streamlined door handles (a segment first), 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, and an integrated spoiler.

Price Expectations

The Kia Syros is likely to be priced around Rs 1 lakh premium than the Sonet that’s currently available within the price range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 15.77 lakh (ex-showroom). In the company’s Indian product portfolio, it will sit above the Sonet and below the Seltos.
