Hyderabad: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi launched a sharp attack on the BRS, alleging that one family had plundered the state during its decade-long rule.
Speaking in the state assembly on the Bhu Bharati Bill on Friday, Owaisi claimed that after the launch of Dharani portal, lakhs of acres were placed on the prohibited list, unauthorised entries surged in land records, and thousands of acres were transacted without the knowledge of officials — but with the approval of a single family.
He accused BRS MLAs of disrupting the assembly debate on the crucial Bill, noting they prioritised personal interests over public welfare. Despite repeated calls for order from speaker G Prasada Kumar and ministers, BRS legislators continued protesting, demanding a debate on the alleged irregularities linked to the Formula E race. “For you (BRS MLAs), family comes before the state, people, and the assembly. Irregularities in Dharani occurred to benefit one family, but the people will teach you a lesson,” Owaisi remarked.
He called for the regularisation of notarised documents, which would help lakhs in Greater Hyderabad, and urged the state govt to address the plight of 20 lakh acres in Part B without passbooks. He also criticised the BRS for abolishing the VRO system, alleging it was to facilitate land grabbing.
Meanwhile, CPI MLA Kunamaneni Sambasiva Rao also found fault with the BRS legislators for disrupting the proceedings and the absence of BRS chief opposition leader K Chandrasekhar Rao in the assembly. Stating that BRS faced the public’s anger in rural areas due to Dharani-related issues, the CPI MLA welcomed the new Bhu Bharati Act.
