Transport Minister flags off four new RTC buses from Visakhapatnam


KTR says farmers shortchanged, alleges Congress missteps on investment support

Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy visited the Visakhapatnam Depot of APS RTC, as part of his North Andhra tour, on Sunday.

The Minister inaugurated a Super Luxury bus and three Express buses to Paderu, Vizianagaram and Amalapuram.

Addressing the gathering at a meeting organised on the occasion, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said that some more new buses would be requisitioned in the near future. In addition to these, Andhra Pradesh would be allotted around 2,000 electric buses, he said. Describing passengers and employees as two eyes of the government, he said that the government was always ready to solve the grievances of the employees. Referring to health issues of RTC workers, he said that the government would strive to provide better amenities to them.

Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said that measures would be taken for introduction of the ‘free bus scheme for women’, as promised by the TDP before the elections, in the near future.

RTC Zonal Chairman Donnu Dora said that the problems of the employees would be taken to the notice of the government from time to time and measures taken to address them.

The Minister handed over prizes to the best drivers and best conductors of seven RTC Depots in the city.

Joint Collector Mayur Ashok, Deputy Transport Commissioner Adinarayana, RTC Vizianagaram Zonal Executive Director A. Vijay Kumar, District Transportation Officer B. Appalanaidu, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager G. Satyanarayana and Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer K. Rajasekhar were among those who participated.
