Involve architects in urban development, officials urged in Andhra Pradesh


Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Visakhapatnam centre’s delegation met the Directorate of Town and Country Planning officials in context of the upcoming amendments to the G.O. relating to building bylaws.

The centre chairman Rajesh Nagula along with a delegation of architects from Andhra Pradesh, met with B. Sreenivasulu, Additional Director at DTCP, Mangalagiri. The delegation presented critical observations and requests regarding the draft G.O. on building bylaws to ensure the active involvement of architects in urban development.

Some of the key points discussed during the meeting included mandating architects for large-scale horizontal developments like group housing, industrial complexes, hospitals and tourism developments exceeding specific site extents. Granting architects the authority to report deviations from approved plans and ensuring corrective actions are taken. Unified Registration System by proposing a streamlined, single-login system for architects across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Urban Development Authorities (UDAs) in Andhra Pradesh, linked to their Council of Architecture (COA) registration status.
