Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, emphasized the need for modern infrastructure and efficient civic systems during a series of review meetings with officials in Guntur.

Speaking at the MP’s office in Brindavan Gardens in Guntur on Tuesday, December 24, he directed swift action on multiple projects, including the iconic Sankar Vilas Bridge construction, Guntur Channel modernization, and Gorantla water tank improvements.

Highlighting the Sankar Vilas Bridge, the Union Minister proposed constructing it with modern features and including an underpass (RUB) for long-term utility. He instructed railway officials to expedite designs and permissions while ensuring smooth vehicular movement through service roads. Addressing traffic bottlenecks near the level crossing, he urged a coordinated approach between railways and traffic authorities.

In a separate meeting, Dr. Chandra Sekhar reviewed the delayed Gorantla water tank project. He stressed the urgency of upgrading the water supply system to address summer shortages in the city and adjoining villages. Corporation officials were instructed to ensure timely completion and improve sanitation by deploying additional tractors for waste collection.

Additionally, the Minister discussed the Guntur Channel modernization and expansion with irrigation officials, urging them to finalize DPRs in coordination with NABARD to streamline water flow and drainage systems.

Officials from various departments, including railways, R&B, traffic, and municipal corporations, attended the reviews.
