BPCL’s integrated refinery and petrochemical complex will transform Nellore dist into industrial hub: TDP MP

Tirupati: TDP MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy asserted that the state-owned Bharat petroleum corporation limited‘s decision to establish an integrated refinery and petrochemical complex at Ramayapatnam port in Nellore district will bring a major boost to the efforts of the TDP-led NDA govt in transforming the district into a major industrial hub in the country.
While BPCL would be making a total investment of Rs 95,000 crore in this mega project, the BPCL board has already approved to allocate a sum of Rs 6,100 crore towards executing various pre-project activities including land acquisition, basic design engineering package, front end engineering design among others.
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy recalled the efforts put in by chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to pitch for the state when a team of BPCL officials met him in July this year.
“Chief minister convinced the BPCL board that Andhra Pradesh, which is strategically placed on the eastern cost, has tremendous petrochemical potential. He promised to allocate an extent of about 5,000 acres of land required to ground the integrated refinery and petrochemical complex of the BPCL in a hassle free manner,” Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy stated.
The Nellore MP noted that the BPCL refinery and petrochemical complex to come up at Ramayapatnam will be one of the largest refineries in India’s east coast, following the 15 MTPA Paradip refinery by the Indian oil corporation in Odisha and Hindustan Petroleum corporation limited’s expanded refinery at Visakhapatnam.
Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy asserted that in addition to the BPCL’s main refinery, 15 ancillary industrial units are set to be established in Nellore district and together approximately one lakh jobs will be created for the local youth, which is a significant step in accomplishing the NDA govt’s target of creating 20 lakh jobs for the unemployed youth in the next five years in Andhra Pradesh.
