Vijayawada: An abandoned infant was found near the bushes at Kanchikacherla in NTR district on Thursday morning.
Kanchikacherla police and child welfare department officials rescued the baby girl with the help of some locals and shifted her to a primary health centre for first aid.
Police said that one person in the locality had discovered the baby girl near the bushes at Rajyalakshmi gas agency on Thursday and called the cops to report about the same. They reached the spot along with the child welfare officials and rescued the infant, who was wrapped in a cloth.
“Fortunately, the locals found the baby before any stray animal did. She is healthy, but was bitten by ants,” the cops said.
The cops and child welfare department officials then took shifted the baby to a govt general hospital (GGH) in Vijayawada city for better treatment.
