The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) will no longer issue Occupancy Certificates (OCs) for multi-storey buildings constructed in violation of norms, particularly those encroaching upon roads, ramps, or drainage lines, Municipal Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has said.
During an inspection of a building in Gorantla on December 26 (Thursday), the GMC Commissioner reviewed the setbacks, road dimensions, ramps, and drain encroachments. He instructed the officials to ensure strict adherence to guidelines. “Buildings must align with government-mandated regulations. Any violations will attract action, and OCs will be withheld,” he said.
Mr. Srinivasulu instructed Ward Secretariat Planning Secretaries to monitor construction of buildings regularly. Any non-compliance must be reported to the authorities concerned immediately for issuing notices, he said.
He emphasised that encroachments on roads and drains should be removed, ensuring the setbacks remain clear and unutilised for structures or generators.
Mr. Srinivasulu directed that greenery must be maintained as per the approved plans, and watchmen’s rooms should adhere to the GMC-approved designs. “Building developers will be responsible for connecting drainage lines to major drains, in compliance with the norms,” he said.
Assistant City Planner D. Mallikarjuna and Planning Secretaries accompanied the Municipal Commissioner during the inspection.
