HYDERABAD

Release of water for irrigating rabi/yasangi crop in about 6.34 lakh acres in the combined Nalgonda and Khammam districts under Nagarjunasagar Left Canal which commenced on December 15, and will continue till April 23 in the on and off method.

According to the project engineers, water for the rabi crop would be given in seven phases (wettings).

The release of water for the first wetting commenced on December 15 and would continue for 27 days, till January 25. However, there would be no water release from January 12 to 18.

Similarly, water release for the second wetting would be from January 25 to 28, third wetting from February 5 to 14, fourth wetting from February 22 to March 3, fifth wetting from March 11 to 20, sixth wetting from March 28 to April 6, and seventh wetting from April 14 to 23.

Water release for the rabi crop would be for a total of 81 days (on period) spread over 130 days in seven phases. There would be no water release for the remaining 49 days (off period).
