Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has applauded the initiatives of the Union and the State governments in empowering the Self-Help Groups (SHGs), which are crucial in fostering self-reliance and economic growth at the grassroot level.
Mr. Sribharat on Sunday visited the vibrant SHG Mela at ASR Grounds in the city. The five-day event is showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurship of local SHGs, featuring an array of products, including exquisite saris, unique handmade goods and delectable food items. Addressing the gathering, the MP expressed his admiration for the dedication and talent showcased by the SHGs. Mr. Sribharat said, “The SHG Mela is a testament to the talent and determination of women and artisans in our community. It is heartening to see their hard work being recognised and appreciated.’’
The MP said these initiatives will encourage SHGs to scale new heights and showcase their creativity to the world. The SHG Mela has received an overwhelming response from the public, with hundreds visiting the stalls each day. Mr. Sribharat interacted with several SHG members, appreciating their entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging them to explore new avenues for growth.
The mela highlighted the significant role of SHGs in uplifting communities and creating a sustainable livelihood. Mr. Sribharat reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that empower local talent and promote economic development in Visakhapatnam.
