Hyderabad: A constable and a home guard of Suryapet have been suspended after they got into a physical fight at the Penpahad police station over sharing ‘mamool’ they collected on Dec 28.
According to police , constable J Ravikumar and home guard G Srinu collected 1,500 from a tea stall owner and a dispute arose between them over sharing the amount. The amount was collected from the tea stall owner, saying that they should be given a Christmas gift. However at the police station, both the constable and home guard got into a fight over the amount.
The constable reportedly offered the home guard only 500 out of the ‘mamool’ they collected, while the home guard insisted that he should get an equal share. Despite other policemen at the police station trying to prevent them from fighting with each other and attempting to separate them when they got into fisticuffs, both of them exchanged blows.
After the incident, on instructions from senior police officials, action was taken against both of them. Both the constable and home guard, who were placed under suspension, were attached to the SP’s office, it was learnt on Thursday.
