Mahindra has already unveiled its first born-electric SUVs – the BE 6 and XUV 9e – and disclosed prices for their entry-level Pack 1 variants. The complete price list for both models will be revealed at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta Electric is set to go on sale on January 17th at the Auto Expo, and the Maruti e-Vitara will arrive in showrooms by March 2025.

  • This is all about these EVs’ powertrains, so let’s get right into it. The electric Creta comes with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery options, delivering an ARAI-claimed range of 390km and 473km, respectively. The SUV’s Long-Range version is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds. With the Creta EV, you get three drive modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport.
  • The Pack 1 variant of the Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV has been priced at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It’s being offered with two batteries – 59kWh and 79kWh, both utilizing LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. The 59kWh variant, with a single electric motor, delivers a maximum power output of 228bhp, while the 79kWh battery, also with a single electric motor, offers 281bhp. Both setups, featuring an RWD (rear-wheel drive) system, produce a maximum torque of 380Nm. Mahindra’s born-electric SUV comes with three drive modes – Range, Everyday, and Race – along with an additional Boost mode. Mahindra claims that the BE 6 with the 59kWh and 79kWh batteries promises an ARAI-claimed range of 556km and 682km, respectively.
  • The Maruti e-Vitara is available with two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh – and features a single electric motor setup as standard. It delivers a power output of 144bhp with 189Nm and 174bhp with 189Nm, respectively. The larger 61kWh battery is also available with a dual-motor AWD (also known as AllGrip-e) setup, offering a maximum power output of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. The range figures for the e-Vitara are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, though it is expected to offer a range of around 500km.

  • Hyundai states that the electric Creta takes 58 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% via a DC fast charger and 4 hours to fully charge via an 11kW AC wall box charger.
  • Mahindra’s born-electric SUV supports a 175kW DC fast charger along with 11.2kW and 7.3kW AC chargers. The battery can be charged via a fast charger from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The 11.2kW AC charger can fully charge the battery in 8 hours (79kWh) or 6 hours (59kWh), while the 7.3kW AC charger takes 11.7 hours (79kWh) or 8.7 hours (59kWh).
  • Maruti Suzuki has not yet revealed the charging capabilities and charging time for the e-Vitara SUV.

  • The Creta Electric comes with a new floating center console and steering wheel, while the dual 10.25-inch screen setup is carried forward from the regular Creta. The carmaker has confirmed that the EV features vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree cameras, Hyundai’s digital key, and an ADAS suite. The rest of its feature set will be largely similar to its ICE counterpart.
  • The Mahindra BE 6 is the most feature-packed EV in its segment. The carmaker has equipped the electric SUV with dual 12.3-inch floating screens running on the MAIA software, featuring more than 30 pre-installed apps. It is the first car in its category to offer an augmented reality HUD (head-up display). Additional features include a new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, 5G connectivity with in-built WiFi, a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat with memory function, OTA updates, 7 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree cameras, an electronic parking brake, a panoramic sunroof with integrated multi-color lighting patterns, laminated glass, and many more premium features.
  • The Maruti e-Vitara is a premium electric offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker, equipped with several comfort and safety features. These include single-zone auto climate control, heated mirrors, side and curtain airbags, a wireless phone charger, hill descent control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a SmartPlay Pro+ system with a new operating system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, adjustable headrests, split-folding rear seats, and more.
