Vijayawada: Krishna district police made extensive security measures and traffic diversions ahead of the ‘Haindava Shankharavam‘ public meeting, scheduled for Sunday near Keesarapalli in Gannavaram mandal here.
Organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), the event is expected to draw lakhs of attendees arriving from across Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring states. The meeting aims to advocate autonomy for Hindu temples, as part of a larger nationwide campaign by VHP.
Superintendent of police for Krishna district, R Gangadhar, said at least 3,300 personnel are being deployed as part of security measures.
“Since the area comes under a no-fly zone, due to its proximity to Gannavaram airport, no drones are being allowed, the SP added.
SP Gangadhar said in the light of the anticipated congestion, police issued specific traffic diversion plans to ensure smooth vehicular Seaparate diversion plans were put out for passengers travelling between Visakhapatnam -Chennai, and Visakhapatnam- Hyderabad. People heading towards Vijayawada airport were advised to use the Ramavarappadu flyover, Andhra Jyothy Center, Mustabad, Surampalli underpass, and Bibi Gudem underpass.TNN
