Nizamabad: To check possible house break-ins during the Sankranti season, Nizamabad in-charge Police Commissioner Sindhu Sharma has urged citizens to avail of the Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) facility, before they go to their native places to celebrate the festival.
The Commissioner issued the advisory to prevent summer thefts in the city. In the advisory, the Police Commissioner asked the residents to inform the local police inspector about the departure as well as the arrival dates in case of their outstation trips.
“Do install a burglar alarm and, if possible, close circuit television at houses,” she advised.
“Before leaving the village, lock the house and inform your nearest police station. Do not post the news of going to the village on social media. Tell your neighbours to keep an eye on your house,” she said.
The Commissioner asked people to avoid keeping valuables at home and to deposit them preferably in a bank locker.
“When newspapers and milk packets get piled up in front of the house, it hints that no one is home. Hence, it is safe to hold your mail and newspapers until you return,” she suggested.
