Vijayawada: Swinging into action to take up infrastructure development work in the capital city, Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has invited tenders for works with an estimated cost of 2,791 crore. The works will be taken up with financial assistance from the World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
ADC has decided to take up widening of Palavagu and other canals as part of flood mitigation measures. Four packages of works have been proposed under the flood mitigation project. Another six works were proposed for development of roads in the capital city.
Moreover, ADC plans to widen the Kondaveeti vaagu (local stream) from Ananthavaram to Undavalli, and Palavaagu from Dondapadu to Krishnayapalem villages. The agency wants to modernise the canals by widening their width and depth.
A reservoir has been planned with 0.03 tmc of water at Sakhamuru village which would be constructed at a cost of 462 crore. Another reservoir of 0.01 tmc capacity would be constructed at Krishnayapalem village at an estimated cost of 303 crore. The canal with a length of 7.5 km would also be widened till Krishnayapalem reservoir.
ADC also proposes to take up E-8 road construction with a cost of 372 crore and E-9 road with a cost of 419 crore. Another road, E-14, would be taken up with 241 crore, and N-12 road with 443 crore. The agency has proposed the construction of N-6 road with a cost of 183 crore and E-3 road with 364 crore. It will also take up works on drains, cycle tracks, walking tracks, drinking water pipelines, greenery, ICT ducts for laying electricity, communication lines, etc.
It has set Jan 31 as deadline for filing of the bids. Officials will open the technical bids on the same day and go for financial bids of those who clear the technical bids. The state cabinet recently approved the works to be taken up with 2,791 crore.
