Mahindra’s New Electric SUVs To Challenge Nexon EV, Creta Electric

In 2025, Mahindra & Mahindra’s major focus is on the EVs. The indigenous automaker has planned four new electric products for this year including the born-electric BE 6 and XEV 9e SUVs, XUV 3XO EV and XEV 7e. The Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e will go on sale in January with their Pack 2 price announcement at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Deliveries of the Pack 3 variants are slated to begin on 14th February, while the Pack 1 and Pack 2 variants will be open for bookings in March.

Mahindra’s born electric SUVs will be followed by the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, which is expected to arrive in the first half of 2025. The Mahindra XEV 7e, which is essentially the electric version of the XUV700 SUV, will arrive towards the end of this year. Let’s take a look at their specifications and key details.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs have garnered buyers’ attention even before their official launch. Both EVs are based on the INGLO platform, and come with the 59kWh and 79kWh battery options. The 59kWh battery pack offers an ARAI-certified range of 556km and power worth 228bhp, while the bigger battery delivers a range of 682km and a peak power of 281bhp.

Initially, both batteries will be available with the RWD (rear-wheel drive) system only. The new Mahindra electric SUVs come with three drive modes – Range, Everyday and Race – along with a Boost mode. The larger battery variant is claimed to do 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. Using a 175kWh DC fast charger, the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e’s batteries can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV appears to be in its final testing phase. The compact SUV’s electric version will look largely similar to its ICE counterpart; however, it will get some EV-specific changes inside and out. Spy images suggest that the XUV 3XO EV will have slightly different front grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, ‘EV’ badgings and aero-optimized alloy wheels.

This electric compact SUV is likely to be offered with a 35kWh battery pack. Its range is expected to be over 350km. Compared to the Mahindra XUV400 EV, the XUV 3XO EV will be more affordable and go up against the Tata Nexon EV.

The Mahindra XEV 7e will be the third born electric SUV from the indigenous automaker in India. Leaked images reveal that the XEV 7e will feature a closed-off grille, headlamps and front bumper similar to the XEV 9e. While the aero-optimized alloy wheels will be borrowed from the XEV 9e, the side profile will look similar to the XUV700.

Inside, it might feature a triple screen setup and two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. The Mahindra XEV 7e will be a 7-seater electric SUV with captain’s chair for the second row occupants. The powertrain details are still under the wraps. Though, the electric SUV is expected to share its battery and motor setup with the Mahindra XEV 9e.
