The National Youth Day programme under way in Mandya on Sunday.

Senior judge and member secretary of District Legal Services Authority B.G. Dinesh, said here on Sunday that Swami Vivekananda was an inspiration to the youth of the country and it was imperative to imbibe his values.
He was speaking after inaugurating the National Youth Day programme held to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, organised by the district administration, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, Department of Youth Services and Sports in association with many yoga organisations in the city.
Mr. Dinesh said Swami Vivekananda was not only a philosopher well-versed in theology but also a patriot who instilled pride for India when traveling abroad. Mr. Dinesh urged the youngsters to remember Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring call of ’Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached’ and said that it was a sure prescription for success.
The BJP Yuva Morcha conducted a walkathon to mark National Youth Day and commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The morcha leaders said the youth of the country should take pride in the country and plunge into the cause of national development.
The youngsters were urged to draw inspiration from the works and achievement of Swami Vivekananda and help in the cause of nation building. “If the country has to progress, then the youth have to excel in their sphere of activity as India’s strength was its youth population,” said the BJP leaders who led a walkathon.

In Mandya, National Youth Day was celebrated by the local authorities including the district administration and the Mandya Zilla Panchayat. Manju Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram who addressed the gathering said the youth of the country should spend time studying and imbibing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
