Cristiano Ronaldo’s love for his country saw him fail a lie detector test, and believes no one will better his current goalscoring record.
The 38-year-old took part in lie detector test for one of his sponsors, the cryptocurrency company, Binance.
One of the questions Ronaldo was asked was if he would ever get his hands on the ultimate prize which evades him – the World Cup.
Pausing to think, the former Manchester United star then proudly stated they would.
However, the results revealed he was in fact lying. It led to Ronaldo smiling and adding: “What a pessimist, huh?”
It’s unclear if he will be playing at USA 2026 but he does remain a key part of the Portugal squad, and will be involved in his nations upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
He was later asked whether anyone would beat his record of 850 career goals.
The Al Nassr star, of course, answered: ‘No’, but the results thought otherwise.
Messi has scored 818 goals and is two years younger at the age of 36.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Argentine surpasses him, but Kylian Mbappe24, and Erling Haaland23, certainly have time to reach Ronaldo’s current tally.
Mbappe has 249 goals in all competitions to his name, and recently netted twice in Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 victory away to Lyon.
While Manchester City goalmachine Haaland has 193 and counting, scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 5-1 victory over Fulham last weekend.
