Vijayawada: A 40-year-old differently-abled person, who was also a social media activist with a history of affiliations to various political parties, was murdered on Thursday night near Jaggayyapeta in NTR district. The accused has been identified as Naresh, who is the son of a woman with whom the deceased reportedly had an affair. He is absconding.
According to Jaggayyapeta circle inspector P Venkateswarlu, the deceased, Yerramsetty Anjaneyulu, was called by Naresh for a meeting. While he was travelling in a three-wheeler, Naresh intercepted him on his bike near Sainagar bridge, and following an altercation, stabbed Anjaneyulu several times on his neck.
Despite his critical condition, Anjaneyulu managed to contact his friends, Gopi and Vijayakumar, who rushed from Thorraguntapalem to assist him. They found him lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to the nearest hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from ongoing family dispute. Naresh, reportedly struggling with addiction issues, frequently borrowed money from Anjaneyulu, leading to repeated arguments.
