STT GDC India signs MoU worth Rs 3500 crores with Telangana gov’t to build Data Center campus


ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (STT GDC) India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of the southern Indian state of Telangana to build a data center campus. The MoU is reportedly worth Rs 3,500 crores, and the AI ready facility with a target capacity of 100 MW will be built in the information technology hub of Mucherla, Meerkhanpet in the Ranga Reddy district.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Bruno Lopez, Group CEO of STT GDC at the company’s Singapore office. Lopez explained why Telangana was the right choice for such a large project saying, “With its progressive policies, strong infrastructure, and commitment to promoting technological innovation, Telangana has consistently demonstrated leadership in long-term digital initiatives. This collaboration aligns with our common goal of promoting economic growth, generating employment, and building a sustainable digital future.”

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy welcomed the deal saying, “I congratulate STT Global for making this decision. Hyderabad will soon emerge as the capital of data centres.”

Readers would recall that in September 2024, STT GDC India had announced that it would invest as much as US $ 3.2 billion on its expansion plan in India. The investment in Telangana is part of its broader vision to achieve a design capacity of 1 GW across India in the next decade. At present STT GDC India has a presence across ten Indian cities, including an existing facility at Hitech City, in Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana.
