Hyderabad: Lack of quality in preparation of food and unhygienic conditions among other issues surfaced when the Mayor G Vijayalaxmi went on a surprise inspection of units preparing sweets and savories at Suaram of Kukatpally on Wednesday.

The Mayor found substandard sweets and savories prepared and sold in shops, eatables prepared in an unhygienic environment, and food not prepared in accordance with minimum quality standards.


She observed that the date of manufacture and expiry date were not on flour, pulses, and other goods and questioned the managements about violations of regulations regarding storage.

The Mayor said children and adults were getting affected from food poisoning after eating substandard food items, and advised everyone to consider carefully while eating outside food. She also said inspections will continue to prevent the sale of food items that were harmful for health.
