Hyderabad: South Central Railway on Thursday announced that its Hyderabad division was 100 per cent electrified, with the electrification of the new 18.56 track-km Akkanapet-Medak railway line. All 1,004 track-km of the division is now electrified, SCR affirmed.
SCR said this was a step forward towards achieving the target of net zero emissions set by Indian Railways. It is an environmental-friendly means of powering the trains, while saving fuel costs.
This division also inaugurated a tower car, a specialised vehicle used for inspection, maintenance and repair of overhead equipment in electrified sections, at Akkanapet.
The Akkanapet-Medak connectivity is located in Mumbai.
Arun Kumar Jain, SCR general manager, congratulated the electrical department and Hyderabad division for achieving the milestone.
