Scientific experts from Delhi and Gujarat, alongside the Telangana Forensics Science Laboratory scientists, have been roped in to investigate the mysterious Meerpet murder.

“We are roping in the best scientific and technical talent from across the country, including those who have solved complex cases like this in the past. As of now, we do not have any clues, but we are fully committed to solving this case,” Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu told The Hindu. Luminary forensics experts have also been brought in to analyse the residence where the grisly murder is said to have been executed, he added.

This comes three days after the complicated murder plot came to the surface during an ongoing investigation into a missing person case. The accused, 45-year-old Guru Murthy, an ex-serviceman, on January 22, confessed that he killed his wife and disposed her body parts after cooking them.

Search operations were launched in Jillelaguda lake where the man claimed to have dumped the pieces, as well the couple’s residence, however, to no avail. “A missing case was booked following a complaint by Murthy and his family. So far, we have not found the woman or her body,” the official further said.

On January 18, Murthy along with his family had reported that his 35-year-old wife Venkata Madhavi went missing. He was allegedly supported the police with the investigation before introducing a plot twist with his confession.

Investigation into the case so far revealed that Madhavi was last seen with her husband at their residence on January 14 (post-Sankranti celebrations), while their two children were at their aunt’s place.

The man, a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, served the Indian Army for over 20 years. After his stint in the Indian Army, Murthy began working as an outsourced security guard with the DRDO in Kanchanbagh. The couple had been married for over 13 years and were dealing with family disputes at the time of the incident, as per the information shared by the investigating officials.
