Asserting that the Central government is ready to sanction houses to Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay said the Centre will not allocate a single house if anyone tries to name the “PMAY houses” as “Indiramma Illu”.
“How can the houses allocated by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre under the PMAY be named Indiramma Illu?” he asked in an oblique reference to the Congress government’s “Indiramma Illu” (housing) scheme in Telangana.
He was speaking at a meeting at his camp office in Karimnagar after Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao of the BRS joined the BJP in his presence on Saturday.
The picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be printed along with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on the new ration cards, he said.
“Why the picture of the PM not being printed on the ration cards when the Centre is allocating free rice. If the PM photo is not printed on the ration cards, why should the free rice be given to the State,” Mr Sanjay asked. Alternatively, the option of giving rice and houses directly to the poor people by the Centre can be considered, he added.
He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of following in the footsteps of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. All the cases involving the BRS leaders including the phone tapping case, Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, and Formula E Race irregularities are being diluted by the Congress government, he charged.
He said Karimnagar witnessed development owing to the funds sanctioned by the Narendra Modi-led Central government under the Smart City Mission. The previous BRS regime earned notoriety for the diversion of funds and various scams during its 10-year rule, he alleged.
