Maruti e Vitara, the upcoming first electric offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker, is all set to hit showrooms in March, 2024. We have seen this midsize electric SUV in its production-ready avatar at the recently-concluded Bharat Mobility Show. Ahead of its official market arrival, select Maruti Nexa dealerships have started accepting bookings for the electric Vitara. However, the official pre-bookings are expected to begin near around its launch date. With an estimated starting price of Rs 17 lakh, the e Vitara will directly take on the newly-launched Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6 along with the MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV.

Maruti e Vitara: Battery, Range, Platform
This EV has been designed on the skateboard e-Heartect platform, co-developed with Toyota. It will be offered with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh – both using LFP (lithium-iron phosphate) blade cells sourced from BYD. The 49kWh battery with the front-axle mounted electric motor delivers a maximum power of 143bhp with 192.5Nm of torque. The bigger battery pack, on the other hand, with an electric motor pushes out a maximum power of 173bhp. The carmaker has confirmed that its all-new electric SUV will offer a range of over 500km in its higher spec form.
Maruti’s EV Infra Plans:
Maruti Suzuki has announced plans to setup fast chargers across top 100 cities nationwide, under its new ‘e for Me’ program. Additionally, there will also be a dedicated charging app and over 1,500 EV-specific service stations in over 1,000 cities.

Maruti e Vitara: Interior & Features
The interior of the new Maruti Vitara electric is significantly more modern than the brand’s existing offerings. It features an all-new dashboard with a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.1-inch instrument cluster, rectangular AC vents with brushed silver surrounds, two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and physical buttons for climate control. The electric SUV has part-fabric and part-leatherette upholstery.
The carmaker has equipped with the electric Vitara generously with features such as wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger, electronic parking brake with auto hold, single zone auto climate control, 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS and more.
